Covid cases are rising sharply again , following restrictions ending and the emergence of a highly infectious BA. More than , people are reporting testing positive each week, while hospitalisations and deaths are also on the rise.

The spike in cases comes after the legal requirement to self-isolate was dropped in England, although the Government and NHS are still recommending people stay at home and avoid contact with others after testing positive.

It also comes ahead of the Government scrapping the provision of free Covid tests, meaning you will soon have to pay to check if you have the virus. This is where you drop your sample. Above this there is a window to the testing strip. Once you have dropped your sample into the well, a red line should appear next to the C relatively quickly.

This line should be present every time you do a lateral flow test. If a red line appears next to the T that means you have tested positive. If there is no line, that means you have tested negative. Even if the line next to the T is extremely faint , that still means your test is positive. However, you should be careful to read the instructions for your lateral flow tests before taking them, as sometimes they can show false positives if you read them too late.

The instructions will tell you how long to wait before checking your test. Most say between minutes. To take an antigen test, you take a swab from inside your nostril, the back of your throat, or both, depending on the specific test you are using. These antibodies will bind to any antigen in the sample. If the testing strip detects the virus, it will show up as a thin red line next to the T on the device. However, the Government and NHS both recommend that you stay at home and minimise contact with others if you do test positive.

The advice is the same in Scotland , Wales and Northern Ireland, except the legal requirement to isolate remains. A study published in the Clinical Epidemiology journal in October , conducted by researchers from the University College London, Liverpool University, Harvard University and the University of Bath, found that lateral flow tests are more than 80 per cent effective at identifying positive Covid cases. And the study found the tests are more than 90 per cent effective at detecting the virus when someone is at their most infectious.

The Government will stop providing universally free Covid tests from 1 April. Until that point, both lateral flows and PCRs for those eligible to order them will continue to be provided for free by the NHS. Businesses will be liable to pay for their testing regime if they want to continue checking whether their employees have coronavirus. Lines are open every day from 7am to 11pm and are free of charge. You are allowed to order one pack which contains seven antigen tests every 72 hours this limit previously applied within 24 hours , and it should be delivered to your home within three days.

If you need to get lateral flow tests urgently, it might be quicker to pick them up in person from a collection point. Now, the usual method for detection of the novel coronavirus , and its many mutant strains is by conducting an RT-PCR test. The positivity criteria for the samples is determined by the number of 'cycles' or cycle threshold needed to detect the virus presence in the sample.

This is otherwise known as the CT value, which has been referred to often in COVID tests and scans, and with the rise in cases, back in the news. What does CT value mean? How does it help determine transmission and infection rates? Scientifically, a CT value signals the number of cycles for a sample to go through to amplify and bring up the viral DNA to a traceable level under given settings. The count is determined when the sample is collected from the patient, extracting the RNA from it, which is then treated with a reverse transcriptase enzyme.

A part of the DNA is also extracted, which is then later amplified using a polymerase chain reaction to produce copies. The DNA is then analyzed and measured under clinical settings and using specific dyes, which then helps collect and estimate the CT value in a given sample.

What can CT value tell you about your infection? The CT count also helps determine the viral load present in your body. To simplify, lower the CT value, the higher is the viral load and higher the CT value, lesser is the viral load said to be in the body. According to medical guidelines referred globally, a CT value below the number 35 means a person is COVID positive, whereas a CT value of 35 and above qualifies as a negative report. The ICMR states that the globally accepted cut-off for CT value for Covid ranges from depending upon the instructions laid down by individual manufacturers.

However, it should be remembered that the CT value in a chest scan signifies a different value. In a chest scan, higher the CT value, higher is the severity of the infection. Invalid: No lines or only a test line mean the results are invalid and it needs to be taken again. A negative result happens when the SARS-CoV-2 primers do not match the genetic material in the sample and there is no amplification. This means the sample did not contain any virus.

A false negative result happens when a person is infected, but there is not enough viral genetic material in the sample for the PCR test to detect it. This can happen early after a person is exposed. Overall, false negative results are much more likely than false positive results. Fact Sheet. This allows many copies of that material to be made, which can be used to detect whether or not the virus is present.

Nothing says peace and quiet quite like the Arizona desert. Those who are lucky enough to travel to this amazing state will learn that Arizona citizens cherish quiet small living. Which begs the question, how does Arizona stack up when it comes to tiny house living? Well, it should come as no surprise that this vast state welcomes downsized lifers with open arms.

Whether you are settling into your tiny cabin in the desert or overlooking a sunset from your tiny house porch in the mountains, Arizona provides the perfect climate and background for tiny house living!

But, does Arizona offer more when it comes to tiny house living than just a picturesque landscape? Here is everything we found out about tiny house living in Arizona as well as some amazing places to check out! While the tiny house movement has been slow to pick up pace in Arizona, it is finally becoming more and more robust.

This means that along with more houses for sale, there are more certified builders and tiny house events taking place. More importantly, this means that the interest in tiny house living will only continue to grow over the years in Arizona. Uncharted Tiny Homes is a certified tiny house building company that has become a gem in Arizona. They have a decade of experience when it comes to zoning and building beautiful tiny houses across Arizona.

The one thing that really draws me to this company is its bright and unique home designs. From the brightly colored door frames to the dark kitchen countertops — design is at the forefront of these tiny homes. This traditional style tiny house is adorned with precious little touches like wooden archways and pine wood paneling. Best of all, Uncharted Tiny Homes offers to finance for those who are looking to making the leap.

This means that owning the tiny house of dreams is certainly within your reach! The other big, tiny house developing project company in Arizona is the Tiny House Developers. This tiny house company specializes in custom-built tiny houses. This means that you can be a part of the planning and designing process. Of course, this is especially important when it comes to building a place that will one day become your home.

However, Tiny House Developers offer much more than just a great design and build. The number one thing they are known for is their consultation process. This is the best way to make sure that all of your bases are covered when it comes to knowing what you need from a tiny house.

Also, they can help with obtaining proper zoning and finding the best piece of land for your tiny house. My favorite service that they offer is the house tours. This way, you can tour their beautiful custom-built tiny houses in hopes of finding inspiration for your own.

For more information on what it is like to downsize and live in a tiny home , check out our article! I am a big believer in trying it before you buy it. This is especially important when it comes to buying a home — no matter the size! So, how can you be expected to buy a tiny house without at least giving it a walkthrough first? However, touring a tiny house before you are even close to ready to buy is also a good idea. This way, you can really start to imagine yourself living the downsized lifestyle.

For information on Tiny Homebuilders in the Texas area , consider checking out our article! The Tumbleweed Tiny House Company is well respected among the tiny house community. They have been a central part of the movement since the beginning. From offering amazing tiny house models to resources for those just getting into downsized living — they have you covered.

So, it is no surprise that they would also offer an amazing tiny house touring experience. In fact, they offer a multi-city experience for Arizona, visiting four different cities in a short amount of time. Here you can browse thousands of homes that are both for rent and for sale. You can also hear testimonials from other tiny house residents singing the praises of this amazing company. Soon, the state will vote on a bill that allows for the proper zoning and building of tiny homes across the whole state.

While many cities welcome tiny houses, not everywhere is a tiny house friendly. This is why this statewide bill is such an important step for the movement. This is why one of the biggest events for homeowners in Arizona is now offering a downsized experience.

The Arizona Best Home Show has been a trade show in Arizona for years, where people can view new home models as well as some really cool upgrades. Now, you can not only see traditional homes but mini homes as well! This event takes place once a year in the heart of Pheonix and welcomes over venders and even more visitors each year.

There is no doubt that Arizona is on the verge of becoming one of the best places to build a tiny house in America. But, there are several different factors that go into making a commitment, like owning a tiny house. While some are ready to jump in with full force, others like to plan out each move carefully. Renting a tiny house in Arizona is the best way to go for those who are unsure if downsized living is right for them.

However, there are not many tiny house long-term rentals available in Arizona. The best resource I have found is The Glamping Hub. This has been a great resource for tiny house owners across the country for years. My favorite feature is that you can search to see what tiny houses are available for rent in your own area. In Arizona, there are hundreds of listing of tiny houses ranging in styles available for short-term rent.

Many times, listers are open to going into a long-term contract rental — all you have to do is ask! However, it may come at a higher price point. This is far more than you can expect to pay for financing your own tiny house. Purchasing a tiny home in Arizona is far easier than renting. This is because you have some amazing companies that specialize in the production and sale of tiny houses.

Companies like Uncharted Tiny Homes are a great place to start looking. However, there is another way! Private sales of tiny houses are also another great way to find a home of your own. This means that you will be buying a previously owned home that is being sold from the owner directly. One thing to keep in mind with private sales is that you will be responsible for finding your own financing either through a bank or personal loan.

With bright orange sunsets to miles and miles of a vast desert, it is the perfect place to envision your tiny house. Luckily for you, Arizona is very welcoming to people seeking the downsized life. Just make sure to do your research. There are plenty of communities and resources available in Arizona, most right at your fingertips. So, let that dream of sleeping under a sky full of stars without any noisy traffic in earshot become your reality. Tumbleweed Tours! Where are the tiny houses in Arizona?
